Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Bringbright Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), the provider of the FarmMapper mobile and web application (the “App”), collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information. We handle personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Who we are
The App is operated by Bringbright Ltd, a company registered in New Zealand (NZBN 9429047295438). For any privacy questions, contact us at privacy@farmmapper.co.nz.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details — your email address and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and never stored by us in readable form), and your display name.
- Farm data you enter — the farm name and details, your water network (tanks, valves, troughs, pipes), paddock and farm boundaries, herds and stock movements, jobs and tasks, and any notes or photos you attach to them.
- Location data you create — map positions you place, such as your farm “home” pin, asset markers and job locations.
- Invitations — when you invite others to your farm, the contact details you use to invite them.
Information collected automatically
- Device readings — telemetry sent by monitoring hardware linked to your farm (for example tank levels and sensor readings), shown on your map.
- Usage & diagnostic data — basic technical information needed to run and troubleshoot the App, such as app version and device type. The App does not use third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
- Map & location services — to show your position on the map the App may use your device location while in use, with your permission. You can control this through your device settings.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the App and its core features — mapping, monitoring, jobs, grazing and offline map bundles.
- To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- To sync your farm data across the devices and members of your farm.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To maintain, troubleshoot and improve the App.
- To meet our legal obligations.
4. How your information is stored
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firebase
Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage), operating on Google
Cloud infrastructure. Our database and file storage are hosted in Google’s
Sydney, Australia region (australia-southeast1),
so your information is stored outside New Zealand. Some related Firebase
services (such as authentication) may also process limited data in other
countries where Google operates. Where information is transferred overseas,
we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected by comparable
safeguards.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With other members of your farm — farm data is shared with the people you invite to, or who own, your farm.
- With service providers — such as Google (Firebase), who process data on our behalf to run the App.
- Where required by law — to comply with a legal obligation, court order or lawful request.
- In a business transfer — if our business is sold or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your information, we will delete or anonymise the personal information we hold about you within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.
7. Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to request access to, and correction of, the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, or to delete your account, contact us at privacy@farmmapper.co.nz. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
8. Children
The App is intended for use by farm operators and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the App or by email where appropriate.
